Good Morning  Douglas and Saugatuck Michigan. Wow, another great day here in the Forest, cool temps, blue skies...it doesn't get any better than this.

Looking for something to do this week?

Movoe-High Noon-Sept 14
1952 Western 85 minutes Retiring Marshall Will Kane (Gary Cooper) insists on defending his town from a gang of hooligans who are due on the noon train -- but he faces the task alone as the cowardly townspeople flee like rats from a sinking ship. Director Fred Zinnemann creates an incredibly tense Western (rightly considered one of the true genre classics) that unfurls in real time -- as the clocks on the wall constantly remind us. Grace Kelly and Lloyd Bridges co-star. Film begins at 6:30 pm at The Red Barn Theater Saugatuck. Suggested Donation $5. FREE POPCORN from CNJ Popcorn Co. Concessions only $1! Call (269) 857-5300 for more information.

Music-Nobody's Darlin-Sept 17
This Old timey, Bluegrass, Folk all girl band will be giving a concert at the Red Barn Theater. Lots of songs about Drinkin', Dyin, and Jesus in a Concert format so you can really hear how wonderful they are. Admission is $20. Curtain at 8 pm Playing at the historic Red Barn Theater. Call (269) 857-5300 for Reservations.

Theatre-Second City-Sept 17
The Second City’s Fair & Unbalanced takes unbridled comic pleasure in the foibles of our politicians, celebrities and even our significant others. No institution escapes the satiric eye of The Second City – from the blowhards of the Beltway to the Hollywood elite. Ripped from the stages of Second City’s legendary theatres in Chicago and Toronto, The Second City’s Fair & Unbalanced is a hilarious ride through present day America. The performance will take place at Hope College on Friday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.

Drum Circle-Sept 14
A 100% free family oriented community style drum circle geared for beginners, but there is always enough jamming that even the best can get their groove on. 6:30-8pm @ Shore Acres Park, Saugatuck - near the Felt Mansion

Hit the Antique Mall, the S.S. Keewatin old steamship Museum, head over to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts and see the new exhibit titled A Passion for Painting: A Century of Art in Saugatuck/Douglas. This remarkable exhibition showcases works by painters both known and unknown who fell in love with the communities of Saugatuck and Douglas and made them (the dunes, water, forest, buildings, and boats) their studio.

Exhibitions
The award-winning Saugatuck-Douglas Museum has unveiled its 2010 exhibit: A Place Called Ox-Bow: 100 Years of Connecting Art, Nature, and People. Saugatuck's "Ox-Bow" is a site of many human and natural wonders: culture, nature, landscape, and waterscape, all unfolding from the Lake Michigan shoreline to the Kalamazoo River and the old Village of Saugatuck. This exhibit is about how for a century the Ox-Bow School has been a bridge between nature and art for thousands of people, comprising an important chapter in the history of the lakeshore and its dunes. This exhibit is open daily, noon to 4 p.m., until Labor Day, and on the weekends only in the fall. Admission is free. For more information, call 269-857-7901 or visit http://sdhistoricalsociety.org/.

The Beach
Did someone mention the beach or Lake Michigan again, of course you can take a long walk along the wide sandy beaches of Lake Michigan and smile at the greatness of the big pond. Why not visit the Saugatuck Dunes State Park (bring some water-it's a hot one today) and take a long walk through the woods, it will be just beautiful.
